When building a website many of us like start custom, or use a framework and in most cases use a content management system. What if you wanted to build a robust web application or a very dynamic website what can you use? Well in today’s post I will list 10 types of websites you can build using drupal cms. You will love this so enjoy.


Have you seen or heard of dribble? If not dribbble is a web application built using Ruby on rails. Users can upload images of what they’re working on and other users can comments and thumb up the work.


If you’re a designer or developer then you’ve probably heard of forrst. Forrst is an invite only online community where designers and developers can get together and give each other advice and tips on work.


Basecamp is a project management web applications where teams can come together and talk and discuss about current projects. They can also invite clients to see write boards and etc.


Bitly is a url shorting website. You can get an ugly url such as a facebook url or youtube and shorting it. Users can also keep track of links and see how many times a visitor has clicked on the link.


Vimeo is a video sharing website where users can upload videos and share it with friends and the community. You can also view who loves the video and how many plays your video has.

Above I have listed websites you’ve probably heard of and have used many of them. If you’re familiar with drupal then you know the possibilities of it and what can be done when using it. The types of websites that can be built on drupal are:

Drupal can be used for many types of projects. Whether you’re looking to build your portfolio on it on a web application just know that it can be done using the cms. If you’re familiar with wordpress then you know that wordpress uses plugins. In drupal plugins = Modules. Though it may seem that these types of websites can be done easily using drupal modules it is not. You will have to take the time to learn drupal and learn how it works. One last thing! Drupal is capable of create many types of website and cannot create ever type of website. So you can get by on somethings but not everything.

    It would have been a much more useful post if you had linked to modules and themes that would let us create these type of sites using Drupal. As it strands, this post could be renamed “6 robust types of websites that you can build using a CMS”
